About the Author – Stephen Harrison Thomas

I have lived a life that has taken me from the cockpit of a Royal Navy fighter jet during the Falklands War to the dangerous skies above Colombia, from military test flying to commercial airline operations across the world. Now, through my books, I share the extraordinary experiences, adventures and people who have shaped that journey.

At just 20 years old, I was one of the youngest frontline fighter pilots in the 1982 Falklands War, flying the legendary Sea Harrier from HMS Invincible. During the conflict, I was credited with three enemy aircraft victories and subsequently awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) for gallantry.

Following my military service, I became a test pilot before moving into commercial aviation, flying as an airline captain in Europe and internationally. My adventures eventually took me to Colombia, where I became involved in dangerous aerial counter-narcotics operations during the country's turbulent struggle against the cocaine cartels.

My books are inspired by these real-life experiences. Falkland Skies takes readers into the cockpit of a fighter aircraft during one of Britain's most significant modern conflicts, while Cocaine Skies reveals the extraordinary and often dangerous world of aviation during Colombia's war on drugs. Other titles, including African Skies and Beckoning Skies, continue the journey through remarkable places, unexpected challenges and unforgettable encounters.

I write because I believe that real life can be more extraordinary than fiction. My stories combine aviation, military history, adventure, humour and personal reflection, offering readers an authentic perspective on events that few people have experienced firsthand.

If you enjoy true stories of adventure, aviation, courage and a life lived beyond the ordinary, I invite you to explore my books and join me on the journey.
