We live in an age of unlimited information. A few taps on a phone can give us access to news, videos, opinions, and entertainment from around the world.
Yet having access to information is not the same as understanding it.
Reading encourages us to slow down and concentrate. A good book gives ideas enough space to develop instead of presenting everything in a few seconds.
Reading also introduces us to experiences beyond our own. Through books, we can explore different cultures, historical periods, professions, and perspectives.
Even a small reading habit can make a difference. Ten or fifteen minutes each day can gradually become several books a year.
The goal does not have to be reading hundreds of books. What matters is finding books that make you think, learn, question, or feel something meaningful.
In a world designed to capture our attention, choosing to read is also choosing to think.
