For all who love Lord of the Rings, Silmarillion and the Hobbit, you will love this first epic fantasy by Bertron Hamill. Much of his writing style is reflective of J.R.R. Tolkien and this book takes fantasy to a whole new level.

So, without further delay, let me introduce, The Reckoning of Olote, Ocnarin Book One. An Epic Fantasy that greatly reflects the Faith of Bertron Hamill.

This up-and-coming Fantasy author was greatly influenced in his writing by the works of Tolkien, in particular the Silmarillion. He enjoyed the story development and the character growth contained in this particular story and wanted to add the same elements to his own book. This he did and so much more. Other influences in his writing stemmed from stories shared with him by his dad and grandfather. So, he had influences at an early age that encourages his imagination to take flight. 

In this first installment of The Reckoning of Olote saga there are many underlying similarities to stories in the Bible. Leaning heavily on his Faith, Hamill wanted to incorporate these similarities while at the same time making it a fantasy that anyone would enjoy.

There is so much material within these stories. The beginning when a world was created and the inhabitants that had to learn about the wonders in their world but also the evil that waited to ensnare them. But more than that, they learned about the promise of hope that would come to free them from evil once and for all.

However, many centuries will pass before this promise is fulfilled. So, throughout this story, there are tales, of love and hate, sorrow and joy, loss and gain. But ultimately the victory promised by Evar, the Creator of Olote, would prevail.

I have read this book more than once and find something new every time I read it. There is so much material, a rich tapestry of storytelling, adventure and emotions that makes it hard to put down. Also an underlying suspense to find out what happens next, will the hero or heroine fall to evil or rise to banish it?  If you are a lover of fantasy, definitely check out this book and more from a modern day Tolkien.
