Letter Thirty-Eight
Hello, my dear Jesus.
I am writing to You at night.
The moon woke me up.
Its light fell on my shut eyes.
I opened them to look at the sky.
The moon looked brighter
than usual this time.
I thought it was You
with a shiny smile.
I got up in my nightgown
that was long enough
to cover my bare feet
with its soft touch.
“Is it You, my Jesus?”
I looked at the moon.
The moon was silent,
as if it just moved.
“You have a message.
Yes, I think, You do.”
I wore my slippers
and walked to the light.
“Is it You, my Jesus?
Is it You, my Jesus
In this moonlight?”
I noticed my pen
on my bedside.
The paper had fallen
on my bedroom rug,
I didn’t lose a moment
to pick it up.
I am writing to You
In this moonlit night.
As if I am soaring in the sky.
I am soaring to reach the moon
to get your message at once.
